I did the big shopping at Walmart today, then had to go to Walgreens to pick up the Drano that I forgot. I decided to have some fun in the Halloween isle before I left. Not sure if I am going to do anything this Halloween or not.

Day 125: White and Nerdy

Day 124: LinkedIn Day
So, for some reason a friend invited me to LinkedIn which I guess is like MySpace for professionals. You can post your resume and connect to colleagues and classmates. A friend that I lost touch with, that I knew since fourth grade found me. Now I'm addicted. It would be more fun if people my age actually checked their email more often than once a week though.

Day 123: (missing 122) Crash!
I failed to get a photo for day 122. That's two now (Day 9 missing too). Argh. I had my home server crash a disk drive at around 2am this morning. This sent the root partition into read only mode. When my wife's computer tried to renew it's IP address the DHCP server wasn't able to do it, so her lost internet access. This was about 1pm while I was at work. After I got her to bypass the firewall and plug into the modem, I logged into the server, saw the problem and tried to reboot. No joy. Intervention was required due to file system errors.
I got home and ran an fsck on the disk and fixed a LOT of errors. I think this drive is failing so I need to find a way to mirror it's data to other systems. Now I'm working data redundancy issues, and I have to setup failsafe servers. Argh.

Day 121: No one charges the batteries
Almost didn't get a 365 done sine all my batteries were taken for the Wii and no one recharged any of them. Grrrr.

Day 117: GRRRRR!
I went over to my kids school to do a little networking and now it's all horked. The connection that WAS working now isn't, but the wireless is! It's soo frustrating. I'm going to see if I can borrow a cable tester from the guys at work and fix this thing once and for all. This install is giving me such a big fight. GRRRR!

Day 113: Sick!
Well... The kids had been sick because of them being kids and all. Probably something from school. Now everybody gets to have a turn at being sick and right now, it's my turn. I found these germ things you rub on your hand at the store and have issued the kids these things, one each. They are to use these at school and stop bringing home teh germs.
Day 112: Day out with Thomas
Took the kids out to ride on Thomas. It rained and there was a cold breeze the whole time so we decided to leave. When we left the gate, the rain stopped and the sun came out. We had fun anyway though.
Day 111: Free Lunch
Where I work has a lot of training classes and I sit not too far from these classes. We often get to jump on the leftovers. Today I got a vegan wrap, brownies, cookies and a sprite. Oh yea, and a pickle.

Day 108: Jerky Admins
I really hate some computer nerd jerks. I used to think that I was the picked on nerd person and didn't understand bullies. Well now I do. I really didn't get it until I listened to the "Keith and the Girl" podcast about the "dragon con" or whatever. They were faced with the "Well technically speaking..." people. I just had to deal with an admin that simply ignored all my emails. I finally got angry in my fifth attempt to get a reply and I got "Sorry, I've been busy. I'd appreciate a friendlier tone from now on". Oh really? Well if the only way I get a response is by being rude, then what do you think I'm going to do? Jerk. How about you start doing your damn job, and responding to people, and no one will have to get unfriendly.

Day 107: Network Monster
Today, I was defeated by the network monster. I was trying to help out at my kids school by hooking up a computer for one of the teachers. I simply could not get the network up and running.

Day 103: Jump Rope
I was going to purchase a jump rope today, but then I found out they cost a lot of money! Well, okay, so $12 to $15. That still seems like a lot for a rope attached to some wood. So, I made myself one from some clothesline and a spare dowel.
I only did intro to jump rope so I just did five minutes today.

Day 100: Mountain Climbing
I finally got to climb a mountain. Today I learned that my son is fearless when it comes to heights, and my daughter can spot trail markers a mile a way.
We took the hardest trail up the mountain. It was awesome. I got a real bad sunburn from this trip.
