I found this great site that displays real time tracking data for earth satellites. You can select an object like the International Space Station, and see where it currently is. What's really nice is that the site uses your IP address as your location. You can then determine when that satellite is going to be visible and in what direction.
My daughter and I are going to view the ISS and the space shuttle (docked with the ISS) at 18:12 tonight. We checked the weather channel to make sure we'll have clear skies. If we only had a telescope to get a good view.
